EP #22 Drew Hinkes, Attorney, NYU Professor, Tech Futurist in “Central Bank Digital Currency Policy and Individual Rights”
Howdy!
Monday, here again! Today our episode is divergent into a sidebar discussion about the implications of central bank digital currencies and the impact of legislation on individual rights themselves.
I wrote about this topic in a previous edition of this very newsletter, particularly discussing the idea of the panopticon and the dark side of digital money.
Then a week or so later, I end up at a legal conference in Chicago at Kent School of Law where my friend Drew Hinkes stood on stage discussing this very thing in front of some of the leading attorneys in the nation.
So Drew agreed to record an episode of Digital Dollar with us to further dive into the topic — particularly that of technology and how various things like terms of services of our favorite apps can radically affect our personal data and privacy.
THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
As a software developer from well before the advent of the internet, I have always been highly concerned about legislation of technology and our liberty.
